Creativity for Kids Craft Party

Today I hosted a craft party using a few different kits from Creativity for Kids at my friend's home. The girls had a fun time making necklaces, headbands and bracelets with the help of their moms. The kits provided us with everything we needed to make the crafts, even the scissors and glue. We started out making the Pop Art Necklaces and it ended up being the only things the girls, mostly around 6 years, could make on their own. It was a really fun morning crafting and hanging out with friends!

A Sailor's Adventure

Liesl drew some pictures yesterday and started telling me the story as I was looking at them. I told her we should write the story down, she dictated and I typed. You can read it on her blog.

a busy friday

To end our week of fun we had our friends Ava and Maya over for the day. Our plans to meet some friends at the bay had to be changed because Ava and Maya forgot their swimsuits. I had everything packed for a day out so we went to Trolley Barn Park for a few hours. After the park we went over to The Children's Museum. It was not busy at all and the kids had fun!

North Park Library

At our local library, the summer reading program includes special guests every Thursday. Today a man brought in a few different animals so show and talk about. It was a nice presentation and the kids had fun.

The Lafayette Hotel

Today we met some friends at the Lafayette Hotel to swim in their pool. It is fun to play in the pool, have a drink and relax like you are on vacation.

Adventure Playground

I found out about adventure playground a few days ago when Secret Agent Josephine posted a photo on Instagram. My sister-in-law and her friend came with us and my sister drove down with her kids. We got there a little after 12:30 and right after a bus full of kids showed up so it was busy for the first few hours. Porter just wanted to hammer and saw for the first hour, not wanting to get wet.
After he observed the rope bridge he decided he could cross it without getting wet and he did a few times before he fell.
Once he fell in he was fine and went on the rafts and mud slide.

The kids were a wet dirty mess at the end of the day but, they had such a fun time, I know we will be making a trip up again.

Lemonade Stand

We set up a lemonade/ice tea/cookie stand today! The kids made $28! We are going to have a few more this summer and donate the money to their school.

Kirk Creek Campground - Big Sur

Last week we went camping with some friends in Big Sur. Neither of us had ever been up there so we were looking forward to it. Our first night there we stayed in campsite number 13. The site was all dirt and surrounded by poison oak so, when the ranger asked us the next morning if we wanted to move we said yes. The little tent on the right is the one we slept in. We borrowed a tent from my friend because I was afraid we would be too cold in the one we have. Well we forgot to get the poles for the tent so we all had to sleep in one little tent we brought for the kids to play in. We moved to site 19 and it was all grass and overlooking the water.

 The mornings were so cold but, the kids really didn't mind.
 We had some fun times but after two nights sleeping like this...
 We decided to pack up and drive down to San Louis Obispo and sleep in a hotel.
