Pumpkins at the Park

Today we went to the Wild Animal Park to check out Pumpkins at the Park.
The kids decorated bags and made little spiders in a web.

Liesl is writing her name now.

The kids fed the ducks, pet the deer and had a fun time.

The activities we run by teens and it was not put together as well as other places we have been like Mickey's Trick-or-Treat or Sea World's Spooktacular, but it was fun.

Baby Shower

My little sister is due to have her baby next month, so my older sister and I hosted a baby shower for her at my parent's house.

We ate tasty food,

played traditional baby shower games,

opened gifts,

and had a nice time.

It was so fun for the kids to check it out explore it all without a ton of other kids being there. This exhibit is pretty awesome, I can't wait to take the kids again.

Mickey's Trick or Treat party

A few weeks ago the kind folks at Disneyland gave us free tickets to check out Mickey's Trick or Treat party and a night at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. Porter went to school for half the day and we got up to LA around 4, checked into the hotel, ate an early dinner and headed over to the park. We had never been to Disney's California Adventure before, so we were excited to check it out. We were able to go on a few rides and walk around the park before the trick or treating started.
Here they are ready to go in.

The park was decorated for Halloween and there were treat stations located throughout the park. The kids had a great time checking it all out, running around, getting treats and healthy snacks like apple slices, dried cranberries and raisins. There were two different areas where they had dj's, singers and dancing.
Liesl was in love with this lady and was staring at her with the biggest smile. Liesl was really into dancing on the fringe and when I tried to get her on the dance floor she got shy. She saw Snow White and wanted to take a picture with her, but when we got up to meet her, she buried her head in my shoulder. The kids had a really fun time Trick or Treating and it was fun looking at all the costumes the children and adults were wearing. After we were done Trick or Treating we went over to Disneyland to check out the newly reopened Haunted Mansion. It has always been a favorite of mine and on our last visit to Disneyland it was not open yet, so I was looking forward to checking it out. Unfortunately by the time be made it to the ride it was 10PM and there was still an hour wait. The kids were not going to make it, so we just started walking and came to the Winnie the Pooh ride and it didn't have a line so we rode it twice. I did get in one fast ride with Porter, Splash Mountain, he didn't like it very much and was not happy. We were all getting tired, so we headed back to the hotel. It was so nice to go back to our room to crash and not have to sit in the car for 2 hours at the end of the night. I let the kids eat some of the candy and the rest they passed out at Porter's soccer game the next day.

DISCLAIMER: I was comped 1-day park-hopper tickets for my family, tickets to the Trick or Treat Party and an overnight stay at the Grand California Hotel. These are my opinions and I received no monetary compensation for writing this review.

Fisher Price TRIO™ Review and Giveaway

When we received the Fisher Price TRIO™ Building Set a few months ago the kids could hardly wait to open the box and I could not get them to look at me for a photo, oh well. At first I thought Porter was a little too old for this toy and Liesl would be more into it, but soon learned that was not the case. Liesl is more into making towers and had a bit of trouble snapping them together but, she has fun playing with them. Porter is really into looking at the booklet and following the directions to and making things. These are much easier for him to hold on to, have fewer pieces and snap together easier than the legos he has. It has been so much fun to watch him sit there and figure out how to make something with very little help from us. This is one of the few toys he is sill into playing with months after receiving it.

Would you like a free TRIO™ Building Set? Just leave a comment saying "hi" or "hey my kids would love those" and you will be entered in a random drawing. If you blog about it and tell me you will be entered twice. If you don't have a blog you can still enter, just leave your name and email address! Winner will be picked Wed the 14th.

Disclosure: I received the Fisher-Price TRIO free of charge as part of a product review program.

what we have been up to

In all of our adjusting to Porter starting Kindergarten, I forgot to mention that Liesl started school too. She is at the same school Porter went to, so she was very comfortable with it from the beginning. She has made a lot of friends and loves spending time in the art studio.

Porter started soccer a few weeks ago and scored two goals at the last game. He is one of three boys on the team "Soccer Puppies", so he has more of a chance to score. Liesl would like to play, but she has to wait until next year, I think I am going to try and coach their team if I can fine a friend to do it with me.

I celebrated my birthday last weekend with family and friends at the Mojave Resort in Palm Desert. We go every year and think it is just the best place for a weekend get away.

I am starting to get used to my time away from the kids, it is kind of weird. Sometimes I don't know what to do with all this free time. It is only 6 hours a week, but it feels like so much. I need to go make Liesl's costume now because we are going to Disneyland tomorrow for Mickey's Trick or Treat Party.
