Picker

I am a picker. I pick pimples, ears, nose on me and my kids. If Jason let me I would do it to him too. It is kind of gross to talk about, but yeah I am a closet picker. Not in the closet anymore. I am not supposed to touch my new nose piercing and it is driving me crazy. I can feel dried boogers in my nose and I can't get them out. I never thought this would be so hard, I think I am addicted to picking.

the birthday

Today my friends picked me up, took me to brunch, had my nose pierced and then we all got matching tattoos. Such a fun day, such a great group of friends I have. I could not be happier in my life right now. Turing 32 on Tuesday and I am in a really good place.

Going to spend next weekend in Palm Desert with my family and friends, can't wait!

tears

I think I have cried more in the last week than I have all year. Porter's transition to full time school has been way more difficult than I ever imagined. He has been crying when we leave and yesterday was the day that changed me. I was too busy thinking about what I was going to do in all my "free time" that I forgot how to be a good parent.
I left Porter yesterday and walked out the door after many kisses and hugs.
I heard him scream for me and cry.
I watched another mom pick him up and comfort him.
My heart broke.
I went home and cried.
I felt like a failure.
I was clearly doing the wrong things for my child.
He needed me and I wasn't there.
So I talked to Jason and we decided that I would spend as much time in the class as I could until he was comfortable. I spent four hours at the school yesterday and he had a good day. I left this morning and he didn't cry, the promise of a new Bakugon helped with that. The great thing is that the teacher is okay with me taking Liesl, so I can be there as much as possible. I am off to spend some time at the school now.

Difficult week

There was going to be a "last week of summer" part 2 but we had such a crazy week I can't go back there in my head right now. Porter has been having a really hard time adjusting to school and it has been hard on all of us. Porter is fine in the class room, it is on the playground and during the extra classes that he is having a problem. In dance class on Friday he punch two kids in the stomach for no reason. It is like him going up to someone and patting them on the back, instead he punches them. It is not out of anger or wanting to hurt them, that he does it so, we are having a really hard time getting him to change his behavior. I am thinking of taking away his favorite blanket as consequence if this continues, but I am not sure yet. I hope this next week is better.

Lies started preschool on Thursday and had a great time. She told me she liked painting with the glitter paint and playing with the girl in the pink dress.

On the first day of school..

Porter was sent to the director's office for being rough with the other kids and yelling at his teacher. On the second day of school he hit a kid across the face with his lunch box because the kid said he didn't want to play with him anymore. I hope the third day is better. Everyone cross your fingers!!!

the last week of summer Part 1

We made the most of the week and had a really great time. Wednesday we went to the Quail Botanical Gardens to check out the new kids area. There is a giant tree house, a stream, musical instruments, etc. Porter had such a great time, he asked if we could go again the next day. It was hot there and not a lot of shade because the trees are still young, but that will not be a problem for long. The kids enjoyed it so much I ended up buying a year membership. Here are some photos my friend took of the day.

Thursday we went to the Science Museum because that is where the kids wanted to go and it was nice and cool inside. The kids always have fun there and I got to spend a few hours enjoying the AC.
Thursday afternoon Porter had his first soccer practice. They didn't end up practicing, but the kids got to know each other and played for a little while. After soccer we went to the Zoo with some friends and enjoyed the warm summer night.
